Books for Good

SNC blogging is back stronger than ever for the summer!

Starting July 2019, SNC will choose a different book on professional or organizational development, summarize key points, and weigh in on how it could be effective (or not!) for your organization.  Whether you are a fellow bookworm or just want the synopsis, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve compiled a list of books found below and want your valuable feedback in helping us pick the finalists. Simply choose the top books you’d like to read (or go crazy and add your own book idea!) by leaving a message in the blog comments, on the facebook page, or you can shoot an email to sommer@sommerneffconsulting.com.

Vote from the following (or submit your own idea!):

  • The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters (Parker)

  • The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap Between Rich and Poor in an Interconnected World (Novogratz)

  • Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead (Brown)

  • Forces for Good: the Six Practices of High Impact Nonprofits (Crutchfield and McLeod Grant)

  • Innovation and Scaling for Impact: How effective Social Enterprises Do it (Seelos and Mair)

  • Moonshot Leadership: Catalyzing an Enduring Brand (Against All Odds) (Brinkmann)

  • Trauma Stewardship: an Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others (van Dernoot Lipsky et al.)

  • What Works: Gender Equality by Design (Bohnet)

  • White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism (DiAngelo)

After voting be sure to check your email and the SNC facebook page for final selections at the end of this month, and then join us for the remainder of 2019 for a fun nonprofit book club reading adventure!
